David Whissel

MANAGING DIRECTOR

David Whissel was previously Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Governance at MacKenzie Partners.

At MacKenzie, David represented clients in proxy contests and shareholder activism situations, friendly and contested mergers and acquisitions, and annual meetings. He also advised clients on general corporate governance, investor relations, shareholder proposals, and executive compensation matters. Prior to joining MacKenzie in 2016, David was CEO and Director of Research at Proxy Mosaic, a corporate governance research and proxy advisory firm that focused on shareholder activism, M&A, and executive compensation. As one of the founding members of the research department at Proxy Mosaic, he was primarily responsible for designing the firm’s products and building its infrastructure, managing its research, sales, and technology teams, and developing relationships with institutional investors and other corporate governance stakeholders. He also worked as an Analyst at Kenosis Capital Partners, a natural resources and technology-focused merchant banking and advisory firm.

He served on the Markets Advisory Council of the Council of Institutional Investors for three years, and he has been a member of the Society for Corporate Governance.

David received his BA from Denison University, and his JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
